A talk on Budget- 2008 was organized on March 1 at NCUI
auditorium, New Delhi.
CA. Sudhir K. Agarwal, Chairman, NIRC of the ICAI, at the
outset welcomed the dignitaries, guest speakers and participant to
the talk on the Finance Bill, 2008. He informed the house that this
was the first programme of the newly elected office-bearers of the
NIRC of the ICAI. The Chairman stated that he and his team
members would be guided by the input that may be received from the
members in regard to the topics and the modalities in which the
programmes could be organized during the year. He also requested
the members to send their views which would greatly help the officebearers
to meet the aspirations of the members at large. Concluding,
the Chairman submitted the Vision of NIRC Service with quality
and Innovation.
Thereafter, the provisions contained in the Finance Bill, 2008
presented by the Honble Finance Minister before the Parliament on
February 29 were analyzed. CA. Ashok Batra, guest speaker took
up the deliberations on Service Tax. He dealt with at length the new
provisions introduced in service tax. CA. Girish Ahuja, took up and
led the deliberations on Direct Taxes. CA Charanjot Singh Nanda,
Central Council Member, ICAI also addressed the participants on
Implication of Budget on the Capital Market and gave his viewpoints
on the various provisions in the aforesaid Bill. The
programme was attended by over 600-700 members and others.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by
CA. Sukhen Pal Babuta, Secretary, NIRC of the ICAI and vote thanks
was proposed by CA. Durga Das Agrawal, Vice-Chairman, NIRC of
the ICAI.
