Dear Professional Colleagues,
As I pen this, my last message to you as Chairman, a host of recollections crowd my memory, of my feelings, dreams and goals at the time I assumed this august office and that memory is going to be sweet and the cherished ones for ever. Ours is one of the noblest professions in the world. An Indian Chartered Accountant is viewed with respect for the competence, integrity and other professional attributes possessed. This we actually owe to our forefathers who have worked with utmost sincerity in laying down the foundation of this esteemed profession. It is very important for us not only to maintain that level but also to pass this on to our next generation with a lot of addition in the value chain. We look at this as the following areas to focus: the membership, the students, the infrastructure and the governance.
A detailed report of the activities during the year is printed in this issue. However, it would not be out of place to report here, that during the past 1 year, we had a spate of major professional educational programmes, meetings, conferences, workshops and seminars which were aimed at updating the technical skill of members at large. In my first write up I had started with certain dreams and goals to achieve which are very much required for the NIRC and for the ease of our members and students. Team NIRC could able to achieve majority of them, with the support and guidance of the members, students and our Head office. The below is the detail of goals mentioned therein and their report to achievements:
This month NIRC had also launched new website nircseminars.org. This is the dedication of IT Committee which materializes, this dream project of NIRC to have interactive website and one site for all seminar related problems and improvements.
Dubai Overseas Trip and Seminar
Your NIRC organized a Dubai Trip during the last month from 21st January, 2014 to 27th January, 2014. It was an Overseas Tour for Members of Northern Region of NIRC of ICAI to find out Professional Opportunities in UAE & Economic scenario in Dubai. Dubai was quite simply fantastic. The hotels, clubs, shopping malls and the tallest structure in the World “Burj Khalifa” stood high in the sky lured immensely and sites were out of this world. During this tour a first time overseas seminar was also organized by NIRC with the help of members of Dubai Chapter to explore the business opportunities in UAE and Economic Scenario in Dubai which was also attended by members from Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association (who were visiting Dubai on International Study Tour) and members from Dubai Chapter. I thank Dr. S.A. Merchant, Senior International Cardiologist and Founder Member of Lilawati Hospital, Mumbai, CA. Raju Menon, Vice-Chairman, Dubai Chapter and CA Manoj Kumar for their nice deliberations. I hereby especially thanks to CA. Nandakumar A, Chairman, CA. Raju Menon, Vice-Chairman, CA Pankaj Mundra, Secretary, CA Prabhdeep Singh Baweja, and other members of Dubai Chapter for their kind support for organizing the event. I am sure that it was a great experience to interact with all the members in Dubai. This trip also face some hardships, even despite of our dedicated efforts, so I also apologize for that.
“Time and tide wait for none. Nothing is permanent in this
world except change which is always for betterment.” The
spring time at NIRC is to start, when leadership is renewed, old leaves
are shed, new leaves sprout and a new leader of Northern India
emerges. I have the pleasures of going back to my roots, the members
of Northern Region to report on what I have achieved and to share my
dreams for the future with them. On this occasion, I would like to thank
from the core of my heart the President, Vice-President, Central
Council Members, my counterparts in other Regions, Chairman and
Managing Committee Members of Branches, dignitaries who graced
many of our programmes, contributors of articles to the Newsletter,
faculty members, members of the Institute, Officer and Staff of the
Institutes at Delhi and Branches and also dear students and Members
for their support, encouragement and co-operation extended to me in
discharging my duties as the Chairman of the Regional Council. I have
no words to mention the support I got from my NIRC members and my
family members for discharging my duties efficiently, as without their
support managing the affairs of NIRC from a person who not belongs to
place where head office of NIRC is situated is too difficult. But with
Team work and support and wishes of all of you I had tried to match the
expectations of each stakeholder of our esteemed Institutions.
Concluding, I salute my predecessors and legends of the profession for their vision and efforts for the advancement of the cause of the profession and its development. During my journey as Chairman of NIRC, I tried to devote my each and every moment for service of the profession, but also during this journey at number of times, I could not respond all the calls of my friends, family and relatives so I apologize from my core of heart. Al last I am again reaffirm my commitments for my profession and always dedicated to work for the members and students of our profession. Jai Hind ! Jai ICAI !
With warm regards,
CA. Vishal Garg
